Jenna Coleman in 2016: A Year in Review

Today is the last day of 2016, and within a few hours, wherever you are in the world, we will be entering 2017. Jenna has been incredibly busy this year, promoting “Me Before You” and the first season of “Victoria”. As the year is ending, I thought it would be great to go over everything our girl has been up to these 12 last months. Click on ‘Continue Reading’ below to read the whole review post!

After spending most of 2015 promoting her last season of “Doctor Who”, Jenna started 2016 attending two conventions. On January 9, she attended the Wizard World Comic Con New Orleans held at New Orleans Morial Convention Center, in Louisiana; followed by Magic City Comic Con in Miami on January 16. In February, the first trailer for “Me Before You” was released, and on the 9th of that month, she attended the ‘So It Goes x Burberry: The Future of British Film’ event, an event which celebrated emerging British talent in film ahead of the 69th British Academy Film Awards. On February 12, she attended the Weinstein x Grey Goose Pre-BAFTA Party, where she reunited with “Me Before You” co-star, Emilia Clarke. Then, on February 13, Jenna attended the Louis Vuitton Pre-BAFTA Party.

In March, a first look at Jenna’s new drama series, “Victoria”, was released by ITV. May was a busy month for Jenna, who finished filming “Victoria”. The first “Me Before You” stills in which she appeared were released. On May 25, Jenna attended the European premiere of “Me Before You”, held in London. She looked gorgeous, wearing a beautiful Burberry gown. To complete this month, she attended the after party for the launch of the ‘Christian Dior Cruise 2017 Collection’ on May 31. In June, she attended the ‘The Spoils’ After Party in London as well as two conventions: the Fan Expo Dallas & the Awesome Con 2016 in Washington DC, where she reunited with “Doctor Who” co-star, Peter Capaldi. On June 7, she attended the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in London in a beautiful Chloe dress.

On June 10, Jenna attended a Burberry Private Event during the London Collections Men SS17 in London – and a few days later, the launch party of the Tate Modern extension. The first stills of “Victoria” were also released, and to finish off the month of June, Jenna attended the Victoria&Albert Museum Summer Party in London. On July 5, she flew to Paris to attend the Vogue Foundation Gala 2016 during Paris Fashion Week.

Quick-fire questions with Jenna Coleman

Harper’s Bazaar UKCan you tell us a little bit about Shop Small and the role you play in helping small businesses? I’m supporting Amex’s Shop Small campaign to encourage people to ‘shop small’ in the lead-up to Christmas in particular. And helping to shine a light on some my favourite independent shops.

Why do you think Small Business Saturday is such an important cause to support? I think it’s important to encourage the creativity and individualism that small shops offer. I love to spend my Saturdays stumbling across a new independent store and finding an upcoming designer to offer something new for the home or for an individual gift. Also, the personal customer service, in your local coffee shop for example. I think variety and individualism is the key and one of things I adore so much about living in London.

How would you encourage people to support small businesses in their everyday lives? It’s all about discovery, and finding those smaller, one-of-a-kind shops and taking enjoyment from it. It’s simple. I’ve really enjoyed sharing my tips and ‘finds’.

Huffington Post’s WISE WORDS

WISE WORDS is a series launched by the Huffpost Entertainment (back in 2015), where various celebrities and personalities are being asked a bunch of questions, such as how they de-stress from their busy lifestyles. Jenna is the subject of today’s interview and spoke to HuffPostUK about what she’s learned along the way.

How do you switch off from the world?
I take a bath. Or I read. Or both at once. Sometimes I go for a long walk.

How do you deal with negativity that comes your way?
If it’s justified, I’ll have a think, I try to take it on board. Sometimes it takes a phone call to my mum to rationalise. She’ll tell me, ‘Chin up.’ I do try to learn something from it.

When and where are you at your happiest?
I love being on an aeroplane. It means I can switch off, but I also like the switching of environments. There’s something about being in the clouds.
